Receiving services from Building Blocks begins with a comprehensive, mental and emotional health assessment. Assessments help with providing an overall picture of any challenges you are facing, how you are feeling emotionally, and how you are thinking about your life and any struggles you may be facing.
An assessment is like an interview where your clinician will ask you questions about yourself, your family, current issues you are facing, things you may have faced in your past, and even questions about your physical health, your work or career and the relationships in your life. Your assessment will help you and your clinician determine what services and supports may benefit you, and will guide the development of your treatment plan. While some of the questions you will be asked may seem very personal, and may even be difficult to talk about, it is important to be as open and honest as possible with your clinician to ensure that all of your needs are met. It may be helpful to write down some notes prior to your assessment, so that you remember to talk about all the things that are important to you.
